This photo shows my room in South Korea, designed by my father when I was 11, and I lived there for six years. When we moved in, there were only two houses nearby – the one visible through the window and ours. Thankfully, no house has been built between them, so the pine trees grow tall. Over the years, they've become quite tall, and now, I can easily see them even from my room on the third floor.

When I was little, I used to squeeze myself into the circular space in front of the window and look outside. Now, I’m too tall for that, but the window still brings back memories of my childhood. Its shape reminds me of my parents sitting around a table at night, discussing the floor plans of our house, which reminds me of the color of the warm yellow table lamp.

The photo was taken in April and we can see the snow on the pine trees. April is an unusual time for snow on Jeju Island, where it rarely snows even in winter. It was 2 pm when I took the photo, but it is interesting how the photo gives a wintery 4 pm feel.

My favorite color used to be red, and now it's green. The photo has green and red in it and it feels like it is representing my past and present. The pine trees outside are evergreen, which makes me feel it is a special, strong green although it is not saturated. My mom chose the gold bin bag, because gold is her favorite color. Overall, the photo holds memories of my childhood, home, and family.
